Lembas Bread

Image.jpeg

Lembas bread is originally from The Lord of The Rings trilogy and my family being big fans of the series I decided to make a copy cat. In the movies Lembas is made by the Elves and is said that one bite will fill your stomach, its very plain, and wont go stale while wrapped in leaves. Obviously my bread wont contain those magical properties but I figured the new LOTR people should get a background. So lets jump in!

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 TBSP baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425

2. For best results use an electric mixer, Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt into bowl. Add in your melted butter and mix well, then add the sugar and cinnamon.

3. Add the cream, honey, and vanilla make sure they are mixed together completely .

4. Spread flour on your table and knead dough onto table and roll it out using a rolling pin. Try to make the dough 1/2 inch in thickness. I used a square cookie cutter but if you don’t have one cut out 3 in squares. Make sure you spray your trays! or use parchment paper! Set the squares on your trays they expand so don’t put them right next to each other.

5. Put into the oven for 12 minutes. While they are in the oven mix in a small bowl some cinnamon and sugar together. Once their done baking spread butter on them and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture onto them.

6. Enjoy!

The bread is also really good with Jam and coffee, and can be served hot or cold (I prefer right out of the oven).
